Nichols: I Have Evidence Of Other Oklahoma City Bombing Conspirators

  • Convicted OKC conspirator says he wrote to Attorney General in 2004

  • Letter describes conversations with informer Gregory Scarpa

  • Claims 176 pages of relevant documents are being held by Bureau of Prisons

  • Claims mail and phone calls to media concerning allegations are intercepted

Terry Nichols has asked to meet with a Salt Lake City attorney investigating the Oklahoma City bombing. In a letter to attorney Jesse Trentadue, Nichols wrote out a detailed affidavit in which he claims to have evidence of "others unknown" -- additional conspirators in the Oklahoma City bombing who have not been brought to justice.

How The September 11 Plot Intersected With The Infrastructure Built By Al Qaeda's Master Spy... Over And Over Again

Ali Mohamed -- an al Qaeda associate who infiltrated the U.S. Army -- was deeply involved in creating strategies and collecting information that was eventually used to accomplish the September 11 attack on America. Mohamed trained terrorists in how to smuggle utility knives onto planes, and his associates used many of the same businesses and locations as the 9/11 hijackers. Mohamed built the secretive infrastructure employed to carry out the most devastating terrorist attack in history.

His knowledge was even displayed in a 2001 President's Daily Brief warning that bin Laden wanted to strike in the United States. But despite his 1998 arrest and 2000 cooperation deal with the U.S. government, Mohamed's wealth of intelligence was not deployed to prevent 9/11 -- or even to illuminate the plot for the public after the fact.

INTELWIRE's J.M. Berger was lead researcher for National Geographic Presents Triple Cross, Bin Laden's Spy in America, which documented the career of Ali Mohamed. Click here for show information.

    Get The Pro Sources

INTELWIRE has launched the INTELWIRE Sourcebook Series -- collections of documents, court records and exclusive material that put news sources in your hands. Ideal for professionals seeking to fact-check stories and books, or for involved terrorism readers who want to get their information straight from the souce, INTELWIRE Sourcebooks provide professional research products at a price anyone can afford.

All collections are selected and compiled by INTELWIRE's J.M. Berger, a reporter and researcher who has covered terrorism for National Public Radio and the National Geographic Channel. INTELWIRE is offering three pilot books in the series.

The Siege At Mecca contains more than 200 pages of declassified State Department documents concerning the 1979 attack on the Grand Mosque by Saudi militants. Collected in a spiral bound volume for the first time anywhere, these documents contain new and never-reported intelligence on the siege, as well as possible links to Osama bin Laden and a religious sect that would later become a significant player in al Qaeda. The Siege At Mecca contains unique information that is unavailable from any other source. Table of contents and introduction || Buy the Book

The Ali Mohamed Sourcebook offers an unparalleled glimpse at the primary sources on al Qaeda's most dangerous sleeper agent. Mohamed infiltrated the U.S. Army and engaged in shady dealings with the CIA, the FBI and the Justice Department. All this and more is documented in more than 400 pages of court records, transcripts, government documents and exclusive analysis. Due to the web of deceptions and government secrecy surrounding this figure, existing reports on Mohamed are often incomplete or incorrect. Get the most important evidence on the man who trained Osama bin Laden himself. Table of contents and introduction || Buy the Book

The Benevolence International Foundation Sourcebook is a document of incredible scope. The Benevolence Foundation (BIF) was a key charity front used by al Qaeda from its very earliest days. The first in a planned series of volumes covering al Qaeda's use of non-governmental organizations and charities to launder money, the BIF Sourcebook documents al Qaeda's formative years in amazing detail -- even including the minutes of the first al Qaeda meeting as recorded by one of the terror network's founders, in both English and the original Arabic. This book contains extensive documentation that has never been published anywhere. Table of contents and introduction || Buy the Book

The Who's Who In Terrorism Winter 2006 edition features more than 450 pages of listings featuring alphabetical listings of terrorist organizations (with capsule summaries) and U.S.-designated terrorists (names, aliases and addresses only) whose assets have been frozen, in a convenient spiral-bound format. Designations are by the U.S. State and Treasury Departments.

New stories and documents will still be linked from the INTELWIRE front page.

Cable: Saudi Caller Claimed Responsibility For OKC Bombing

A woman called a U.S.-affiliated military official in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to claim responsibility for the Oklahoma City bombing, according to a newly released State Department cable. The call came around noon local time, on April 22, 1995. The caller claimed "she had been brainwashed by the FBI" and that she had blown up the Alfred E. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City as an act of revenge. The officer attempted to keep the woman on the line while other task force personnel tried to trace the call. The woman, who identified herself as "Jackie in the Box," told the officer she had flown into Oklahoma City from Texas in order to carry out the bombing. The call was ruled to be a crank.

Al Qaeda And Oklahoma City: The Unfinished Investigation

Within hours of the Oklahoma City bombing, many observers of terrorist activity speculated that the attack may have been sponsored by Islamic extremists or other Middle Eastern interests. When Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were arrested, the media pendulum swung to the other extreme, dismissing such early speculation as the result of ethnic and religious bigotry. The U.S. government flatly stated that the attack had been carried out by domestic, right-wing American terrorists. The case, it seemed, was closed. But new information continued to trickle out during the intervening years, and that trickle increased to a flood in the wake of the September 11 attack on America, which brought intense scrutiny of Islamic extremist "sleeper cells" operating on U.S. soil.
